Possible. Probable.
Doing it. Done.

Over the years, we developed an approach that allows us to examine an idea from a slightly different perspective than most engineers. It’s an approach that tests the validity of the concept, and determines the best way to make it happen before unpacking the financial viability of the whole enterprise.  If the concept is workable, we can build a prototype and make it a commercial reality. For you, it’s the most considered, fastest route to market, no matter how outlandish your ideas may be.

This is how we do it

Possible

Proof of Concept

1

1

You could be sitting on a billion-dollar business, but without a proof of concept, you’re going to struggle to raise any capital. So, we’ll spend however long it takes to understand your vision fully.

2.

2.

Then, we’ll review the associated calculations and technology to ensure the concept is physically plausible. Does the technology already exist to make it happen? Can we adapt something else? Or, do we have to start from scratch.

3.

3.

All of this is done to confirm you’re heading in the right direction or chasing a pipe dream, and if you’re looking for funding, you won’t get far without a proof of concept.

Engineering Concept Design

Engineering

Engineering Discovery

Now that the playing field for the design process has been established, we’ll begin a series of brainstorming sessions where every possible avenue is on the table. This often results in a number of viable options, leading us to the next step.

Solutions

Solutions Presented

All of the engineering solutions will be ranked, and the most favourable options identified. Preliminary sizing and professional estimates will be developed for 3 – 5 options, in general, and then presented to you for a final decision. We’ll advise on the pros and cons of each approach, of course, but the final decision is yours.

Business

Business Case

Now you’ve determined what solution delivers the best chance of success, we’ll see if it stacks up from a business perspective. We’ll build and present a range of preliminary and financial models, and together, we’ll see if it’s financially viable. If not, don’t worry. There are usually a number of variables that can be played with to see if we can make the outputs more favourable.

Problem

Problem Statement

First of all, we’ll confirm the right problem statement has been defined to ensure the correct solution is being designed. If previous concepts have been attempted, we’ll uncover what failed and why. If not, we’ll start from scratch, considering aspirations, inputs, boundaries and problems.

Doing it.

Prototyping

Prototype

Prototype Design

This is when the tyre hits the road, and we’ll create a high-level test plan to begin with. Detailed drawings and costings will be completed with the level of complexity to be determined by you, supported by our advice. Next, we’ll begin the procurement process, obtaining 2-3 quotes for every scope of work and equipment required. Terms will be negotiated in your best interests at all times.

Prototype

Prototype Build

Project managing the entire build begins now. We’ll engage whichever external suppliers are required, raise purchase orders and procure the necessary materials. Throughout all of this, we’ll be involved in meetings with suppliers, manufacturers and fabricators to ensure the prototype stays on time and budget. We’ll conduct relevant quality testing through QA hold points and keep you up-to-date the whole way.

Pre

Pre Commissioning

Prototype complete, we’ll begin the pre-commissioning process involving the contractor and operator. We’ll check all the systems and components, making sure everything’s installed, tested, and prepared for the operations phase, looking to identify and resolve any issues that may have arisen during construction.

Commissioning

Commissioning

While the facility may be tested using water in the pre-commissioning phase, now we’ll introduce actual process fluids into the equipment. If successful, we can hand over the entire facility to operations, and start-up can begin.

Performance

Performance testing

The entire commissioning stage of engineering projects is a critical phase of the process, but once complete, all that’s left to do is press the button and switch it on. Once commissioning is complete, we’ll conduct and report on performance testing, ensuring all is going according to plan.

Done.

Operations and maintenance

Ongoing

Ongoing Service

Now the commercial product is complete, we can, if you want, take care of the operations and maintenance of the facility. These tasks will include performance testing and reporting, component securing and replacement, and ongoing preventative maintenance.

Let's accelerate your time to market and bring your ideas to life.
